“To know athletes, you need to be apart of them; at their training sessions, their practices and ultimately at their competitions. You can’t sit in your room treating athletes and claim you know sport when you alone aren’t apart of it.” – Dylan Wiebe
See some of the highlights and the results from some of the events I’ve been apart of:

BC Cup (Silverstar Mountain, Vernon BC)
Aziz Zouaoui/ July 4-5, 2015

July 4th and 5th, 2015 saw myself at the BC Cup at Silverstar Mountain in Vernon, BC as the lead medical massage therapist.

Being new to the sport and athletes of this extreme sport, I was unaware of the intesity and increasing demand the sport had on the body as I witnessed scraped up limbs with multiple riders in arm slings due to broken clavicles.

One rider in particular came in after his qualifying run to see me in a bit of agony with calf cramps. After a quick assessment, I treated the calves with muscle approximation techniques and sedative vibrations to reduce his neural firing and reduce the cramps with a full “flush” for improved circulation.

The next day, the rider came up to me as I was treating another athlete and was ecstatic as he had won 1st place in his division among all other regional riders. That individual was Aziz Zouaoui, who rides for Dunbar Cycle. Way to go Aziz!
